Terms of Service — JVRSUSSEX.co.uk

Last updated: March 2026. Applies to all collections across Sussex & surrounding areas.

Introduction & Agreement

These Terms of Service govern all scrap car collection, quotation, purchase, and recycling services provided by JVRSUSSEX, operating in the Haywards Heath area and throughout Sussex. By requesting a quote or proceeding with a collection, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms.

If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please do not submit a quote request or book a collection.

Key Policies & Vehicle Conditions

LPG / Gas Vehicles — Refused
Any vehicle fitted with LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) tanks or alternative gas conversion systems will be refused for collection. This is a firm safety policy with no exceptions.

Incomplete Vehicles — Price Review
Incomplete vehicles — including those missing engines, gearboxes, catalytic converters, wheels, or other major components — will be subject to a price review at the point of collection. The initial online quote will not apply.

Ownership Transfer — Upon Purchase
Once a vehicle has been purchased by JVRSUSSEX and payment has been made, the vehicle becomes the sole property of JVRSUSSEX. We reserve the right to do whatever we choose with the vehicle, including but not limited to: breaking for parts, resale, crushing, or recycling — at our full discretion.

Quotes, Estimates & Pricing

All online quotes provided via our website or by phone are estimates only. The final confirmed price is agreed upon at the point of physical inspection during collection.

Price adjustments may apply if:

  • Vehicle condition differs materially from the description provided
  • Missing, damaged, or non-original components (alloys, catalytic converter, battery, etc.)
  • Actual scrap weight falls below the estimated figure
  • Vehicle is incomplete, stripped, or partially dismantled
  • Collection requires specialist equipment not originally requested

High-Value Parts Accepted: Alloy wheels, catalytic converters, batteries (12V / EV), engines & gearboxes.

Scrap Metal Accepted: Ferrous metals (steel, iron), non-ferrous metals (aluminium, copper), body panels & chassis, general scrap weight.

Collection, Delivery & Inspection

  • Free collection: Standard service for vehicles within our operating area (subject to access)
  • Drop-off at our yard: Available by prior arrangement — no additional charge
  • Delivery / recovery by us: An additional charge of £25 applies where specialist recovery transport is required

Right to Inspect & Refuse: JVRSUSSEX reserves the right to inspect any vehicle prior to purchase and to refuse collection or withdraw any agreed price if the vehicle’s condition is materially different from the description provided, if the vehicle contains LPG tanks, or if collection poses a safety risk.

Valid ID Requirement: In compliance with the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, all sellers must present valid photographic ID (e.g., passport or UK driving licence) and proof of address at the time of collection. We are legally required to record and retain this information.

Payment & Ownership Transfer

  • Bank transfer: Funds transferred to your nominated account on or shortly after collection day
  • Cash on collection: Available by prior arrangement; recorded for compliance purposes
  • Ownership transfers to JVRSUSSEX at the point of payment — until then the vehicle remains the seller’s property
  • You must be the legal registered keeper or have authorisation to sell the vehicle
  • JVRSUSSEX accepts no liability for any items left inside the vehicle — please remove all personal belongings before collection

Regulatory Compliance

JVRSUSSEX operates in full compliance with UK waste and recycling legislation, including:

  • End of Life Vehicles (ELV) Regulations 2003 — Certificate of Destruction issued where applicable
  • Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 — cashless payments recorded; ID verified for all transactions
  • Environmental Permitting Regulations — vehicles processed by licensed Authorised Treatment Facilities (ATFs)
  • DVLA notified upon transfer; sellers should also submit their V5C logbook section

Governing Law, Disputes & Amendments
